The A Team began their campaign with a slightly disappointing 1 1/2-6 1/2 loss to Huddersfield A although Huddersfield had a stronger side than they have in recent years and might be a surprise package in the league overall. Jeff Spratt ground out victory in the last game to fiinish.

The B Team had a respectable loss to newly relegated Bradford Central 3-5; most of the games were close despite being heavily outgraded on each board. David Teague was the hero, shooting down his opponent in 20 moves while Gordon Marks came out best in a difficult endgame.

The C Team drew 4-4 with Alwoodley B despite having to default a board. David Halpin won on his debut for the club.
