Mick's own report which has also been sent to the local paper (Mick writes our regular article, hence the fact that he's referring to himself in the third person). Also attached is a picture of Mick with the rest of the England 2 team receiving souvenier chocolates that were presented to each entrant.

In the World Senior Team Championships held in Vilnius, Lithuania, Mick Stokes made his international debut in the Over 65 Tournament and had a satisfactory campaign. Playing for England 2, he won against the highest graded player for England 1. He also won against The Netherlands and drew games with Denmark, Lithuania and Switzerland. He lost to a Grandmaster in the Russia team which took the Silver medals, lost a thrilling game against Austria and in the final round he lost with glory to an International Master in the Saint Petersburg - Russia team which finished in the Gold medal place. This particular game was selected as the Best Match out of all the 56 played that day. The Over 50 event was won by Lithuania with England 's team featuring 2 Grandmasters and 2 International Masters taking the Silver position. The Women's Championship was won by Russia with Georgia in second place.
